Navigating the Art Industry | Seminar

Wednesday April 27th, 6pm to 9pm | Sunday May 1st, 6pm to 9pm

Presented by Pennylane Shen, this 3-hour seminar will cover:

•    Presentation (portfolio, application letters, CVs, submissions, proposals)
•    Approaching the Vancouver market (gallery profiles and descriptions)
•    Alternative exhibition options (juried exhibitions, non-profit art spaces, group shows)
•    Commercial gallery procedures and guidelines (payment, contracts, shipping,  framing)

The seminar is aimed at emerging artists in Canada, and offers a concise overview of many essential and practical facets of marketing oneself in the arts. More information about the course is available on the official website, and registration is available online here.

Vancouver Gallery Hop | Various talks and events

Saturday, April 30th

Presented by the Canadian Art Foundation, the Vancouver Gallery Hop is a full-day event beginning with a morning talk with Reid Shier, Director/Curator of Presentation House Gallery and artist Mafanwy Mcleod. The afternoon will include free artist talks and gallery tours. In the evening, the film Ai Weiwei: Sunflower Seeds and China, The Empire Act? will be screened, with an introduction by Daina Augaitis, Chief Curator / Deputy Director of the Vancouver Art Gallery.
